Ontario Youth Cup Series Developing Draft-Legal Racing

youth cupTriathlon Ontario announced the race venues for the second edition of its Ontario Youth Cup Series. The Youth Cup Series was created to provide junior athletes a draft legal competitive race environment for 14 to 15 year olds.  Triathlon Ontario believes that developing a strong provincial race series is an essential component to building the sport.  The series will encourage increased participation, foster skill development, club growth and an overall investment in the sport.

New for the 2014 year is the expansion from four races to five for the 14 to 15 year old age category, and the addition of a four race series for the 12 to 13 year old age category. Triathlon Ontario’s development coach, Greg Kealy and his Bytown Storm Club will host three of the five events. Kealy  sees the series, which encompasses draft legal events, as imperative to giving young athletes the chance develop the skills needed to compete at a National level. It offers a bridging program that has been missing.

Ontario Cup Race Schedule

June 15th, 2014 – Guelph Lake KOS (non draft legal)

– Points series for ages 12 to 13 and 14 to 15

 

July 27th, 2014 – Sharbot Lake KOS (draft legal)

-Points series for ages 12 to 3 and 14 to 15

 

August 2nd, 2014 – U15 Provincial Championships Ottawa (draft legal)

– Draft Legal ages 14 to 15 and 16 to 19

 

August 24th, 2014 – Dunrobin KOS (draft legal)

-Points series for ages 12 to 13 and 14 to 15

 

September 13th, 2014 – Lakeside KOS (non-draft legal)
