The World Triathlon Series season opener less than two weeks away in a nearly sold-out ITU World Triathlon Abu Dhabi. Triathletes and triathlon fans are gearing up an especially exciting year, as the first four events in the WTS are important races for the elites — they’re the final chances to secure a spot in Rio.

Trifecta is an online fantasy triathlon league produced by USA Triathlon. It allows fans around the world to predict the podiums at the nine WTS races. The game is going into its third WTS season. Over the last two years, it boasted 2,700 players from over 85 countries.

Registration for the game is now open for the upcoming WTS Abu Dhabi on March 5th.

Trifecta players can follow the WTS events live at triathlonlive.tv. They can predict the races’ podium finishes as well as select an alternate, should one of their predicted athletes decide not to race. Points are earned for correct predictions. If a player guesses all three podium spots correctly, they earn a 20 point “bonus”. Winners are revealed after the ITU Grand Final (this year, Cozumel this September). Players can see their results and how they stack up against other players after individual races on the Global Leaderboard.

The elite men’s and women’s line-ups for WTS Abu Dhabi has been released. World champion Javier Gomez is set to line up on the men’s side. Canadians Sarah-Anne Brault, Amelie Kretz, Kyle Jones, Tyler Mislawchuk and Russell Pennock will be racing.
