The French triathlete is setting the bar high on the run in short course racing this season

Paris Olympic gold medallist Cassandre Beaugrand continues her winning streak into 2025 setting a new national 5km road record at the Monaco 5km event on the weekend.

Record opens more doors to compete
Her performance is also three seconds faster than the 2025 World athletics championship standard. The achievement is a potential qualification for the 2025 European outdoor championships.
As the current reigning World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS) title holder, fans of the sport are excited to see what she brings to the competition this year.
Beaugrand made the decision to skip out of the inaugural series event in Abu Dhabi Feb 15-16 to focus on the 5km race. Fans will get to see her race soon though, at the launch of the PTO T1 Indoor Triathlon World Cup in her home country on March 22. She is also expected to compete at the Supertri E World Championship in London on April 5.

Beaugrand was setting records as a youth
She started running at an early age. Her mother was a runner and father a running coach. She was the French cross-country youth champion in 2013 and 2014. At the time she also set national records in the 1500 metres and 10 kilometres events.
Her talent in the 5km showcases what can be expected of her in the short format indoor races this spring. She gets into the WTCS game later this year at the Yokohama, Japan series race in May.

On a winning streak heading into 2025
At only 27 years old, Beaugrand has amassed an impressive collection of awards and is the only female to win gold in the same year at the Olympics and the WTCS. On top of those wins she helped France bring home gold in the mixed relay world championships in 2019, 2020 and 2023, and bronze at the Tokyo Olympics.
She also won several Super League Triathlon and WTCS series races. Heading into the season she is one of the highest ranked athletes and a force to reckon with on the run.
