Norseman Race Video

There are extreme triathlons and then there is the Isklar Norseman. If you were in a end of season lull, the recently released race video below is sure to get you going.

Norseman is limited to 250 athletes for safety reasons and only 160 of those athletes are allowed to finish on top of the mountain–those arriving later must complete the iron-distance race at the mountain plateau below the peak.

Enrollment for Norseman 2016 will open on Wednesday October 28 and will close on Sunday, November 1, at 18:00 CET. All who enroll at any time during the days that enrollment is open, have a ticket in the lottery. The participation fee is NOK 3000, and the organizers expect to finalize the lottery by November 8.

The point-to-point course runs from fjord to peak. It starts at sea level, with a 4m drop off a ferry into the Hardangerfjord. Athletes then cross the Hardangervidda mountain plateau and finish at the rocky peak of Gaustatoppen, at 1,850m above sea level and 220 km away. The total ascent is 5,000m. The weather can be anything from sunny and temperate to cold and snowy. In any condition it will be epic.
