There will now be five Challenge races in Australia with the new Challenge Shepparton taking place in Greater Shepparton, Victoria, on November 16, 2014. The addition of the race to the already successful list in the area including Challenge Gold Coast, Challenge Melbourne, Challenge Forster and Challenge Batemans Bay  is just more proof that Australia ranks among the top triathlete hotspots for talent and development. The half distance race will build on the history of races put on by the Shepparton Triathlon Club with the event being held at the iconic Victoria Park Lake.

Challenge Family CEO, Felix Walchshöfer, said he was delighted to welcome another important part of Australia’s triathlon legacy to the Challenge Family.

“Shepparton has a long history of triathlon with legendary support from the community and athletes. It’s an honour to be able to continue this tradition and announce Challenge Shepparton on an exciting new course working with a community that is clearly so passionate about triathlon,” he said.

Athletes will swim a single-lap swim of the Victoria Park Lake, and ride two loops of  a flat and fast 45 km bike course through Shepparton’s iconic rural landscapes. The run course consists of three laps of lake, river and bush trails with the finish along the lake in the centre of town.
