Naeth Takes Timberman

Angela Naeth

Angela Naeth only trailed two-time Kona podium finisher Rachel Joyce by 1:25 out of the water and took control on the bike to easily best a stacked field at Ironman 70.3 Timberman. By the halfway point of the bike Naeth had taken control of the race and never looked back, getting to the finish line over four minutes up on Heather Jackson, while Joyce had to settle for third. Canadians Kristen Marchant and Alexandra Gordichuk were seventh and ninth. Andy Potts, typically one of the sports best swimmers, was 45 seconds behind New Zealand’s Dylan McNiece out of the water. American Cam Dye blasted through the bike and entered T2 with a three minute lead on Potts, Tim O’Donnell (USA) and Australian Jake McDonald. Potts and O’Donnell both managed to get passed Dye, with Potts getting to the line with cushion of over a minute to take the title. Canadians Trevor Wurtele and Taylor Reid were fourth and eighth.
