Murua and Colucci take the final ITU World Cup race of 2013
Spain’s Ainhoa Murua and Reinaldo Colucci of Brazil both captured the men’s and women’s titles at the 2013 ITU World Cup in Guatapé, Colombia.
Elite Women’s Race
Ainhoa Murua won her first ITU World Cup gold in Guatapé after heavy rain gave way to clear skies (the race start was delayed by 20 minutes) to create the perfect racing conditions.
Murua came from behind during the run to win her first major ITU triathlon gold in Guatape, the Basque-born athlete completed the race in two hours, 14 minutes and 48 seconds, with Slovenia’s Mateja Simic 25 seconds behind at 2.15:13 and French athlete Charlotte Morel coming in at 2.15:32 for her first World Cup podium.

Elite Men’s Race
The rain stopped for the men’s race, giving way first to cool and cloudy conditions then heating up during the bike and run.
By the second lap of the run, Brazil’s Reinaldo Colucci took over the race lead and managed to stay ahead for the victory – his first World Cup win in three years. All of the top three completed the race in under two hours, with Colucci clocking 1.58:48, Carlos Javier Quinchara Forero (COL) 1.58:58 and Etienne Diemunsch (FRA) 1.59:13.
