Morales and Jacobs win Ironman Wisconsin
Kemp cracks the top ten.
Argentina’s Ezequiel Morales and the USA’s Jessica Jacobs won the tenth Ironman Wisconsin.
Both came from behind to capture their victories.
Morales stayed within striking distance of France’s Romain Guillaume then ran a race best 2:53:06, passing Guillaume at the twelve-kilometer mark, to cross the line in 8:45:18 to get his first Ironman title. Germany’s Stefan Schmid finished second (8:57:51), and The USA’s Mac Brown got third (9:08:14).
Jacobs also used the top women’s marathon of 3:13:39 to pass fellow American Meredith Kessler with fourteen kilometres to go in the run. Jacobs finished in 9:41:03 to take her second Ironman title (she won Ironman Florida last year). Kessler, third at Ironman Canada two weeks ago, held on for second (9:50:45), and Whitney Garcia completed the ail-American podium in 10:03:53.
Aurora’s Shannon Kemp finished as the ninth best woman, and the second fastest women’s age grouper with a time of 10:37:35.
