We’ll have a chance to see the likes of Stefan Daniel (pictured above on his way to a bronze medal in Tokyo last year) and Kamylle Frenette compete in their home country again this year as Montreal joins the World Triathlon Para Series again this year. The event will be held at Parc Jean Drapeau, the site of the Formula 1 circuit on Friday, July 8.

The race includes a 750 m swim in the Bassin Olympique, followed by a five-lap bike on the Gilles-Villeneuve race track. The race finishes up with a 5 km run around the lake.

The Montreal Para Series event will be the second of three stops on the World Triathlon Para Series, after Yokohama and before Swansea. The World Championships take place in Abu Dhabi in November. Qualifying for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris begins in June, 2023. The triathlon event in Paris will include three more medal events, “which means that all classes except the PTS3 women will have a medal event at the Paralympics,” according to World Triathlon.
