This weekend I’m going to be racing the Montreal Demi Esprit half iron distance triathlon. This will be my second time racing the Demi Esprit. I raced the 2016 edition, which was the first race of any kind that I won. The Montreal Demi Esprit is a unique race because it all takes place in a confined space around the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. You swim in a rowing basin, followed by 21 laps of the race track, and then finish with 4.5 laps around the rowing basin on the run. A bonus of this race is there’s a UCI road race in Montreal on the Sunday (the Demi Esprit is Saturday) that bring in all the big grand tour cycling teams.
