The Championships to be head on Sunday September 7, 2014.

IRONMAN today announced that it has chosen Mont-Tremblant, Québec, Canada to host the 2014 IRONMAN® 70.3® World Championship triathlon. The championship race will be held on September 7, 2014 and marks the first time in IRONMAN history that a single location has the privilege to host three major IRONMAN events: IRONMAN®, IRONMAN® 70.3® and now the IRONMAN® 70.3® World Championship. This major announcement was made in the presence of Québec’s Prime Minister, Pauline Marois and the Mayor of the City of Mont-Tremblant, Pierre Pilon.

“The choice of Mont-Tremblant as the host venue for the 2014 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship was an obvious one given the success of the inaugural IRONMAN events held here in 2012,” said Andrew Messick, Chief Executive Officer of IRONMAN. “We are confident that Mont-Tremblant and the province of Québec will be the ideal hosts for the first IRONMAN World Championship event to be held outside of the United States.”

“We are thrilled to welcome the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship to Mont-Tremblant. Today’s announcement is another testimonial to the fact that extraordinary cooperation and dynamism within a community can become an important economic strength”, says Mont-Tremblant Mayor Pierre Pilon.”

Several dignitaries for the Mont-Tremblant region were also on hand for this important announcement, including Tourism Minister, Pascal Bérubé; Member of National Assembly for Labelle and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Education, Recreation and Sports, Sylvain Pagé; Honorary Chair of IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant, Pierre Lavoie; Québec professional athlete and spokesperson for the IRONMAN 70.3 Mont-Tremblant, Magali Tisseyre; and the general manager of the Tremblant Resort Association, Pierre Bertrand.

This year’s IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship will be held at Lake Las Vegas in Henderson, Nevada on September 8, 2013, and will represent the third and final year in that location. Beginning with Mont Tremblant in 2014, the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship will rotate globally among different regions on an annual basis. Each year, more than 2,000 domestic and international competitors have earned the right to compete in the World Championship by qualifying at an IRONMAN 70.3 event.
