Millward and Swallow take Ironman 70.3 Boise titles

Wurtele finishes fifth in the bike shortened event.

New Zealand’s Callum Millward and Great Britain’s Jodie Swallow won today’s bike shortened Ironman 70.3 Boise.

The swim and run distances remained the same except for the bike ride where the distance was just 24 km due to weather – several areas of the bike course was covered with snow.

The men’s race came down to a sprint finish where Millward crossed the finish line (2:13:23) one second ahead of American Matty Reed (2:13:24). Kelowna’s Trevor Wurtele grabbed fifth (2:16:03).

Swallow got out to a big lead after the swim (25:42), and held onto it for the win (2:29:28). American Malaika Homo finished second (2:31:51). Canada’s Samantha McGlone raced to a 12th place finish (2:42:38).
