MEC Indoor Triathlon

MEC Toronto will be putting on an indoor triathlon at the  Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre on Sunday, November 22.

The indoor triathlon is based on time rather than distance. The total event will be approximately 60 minutes for each participant.  15 minutes in the pool, a 5 minute transition, 15 minutes on a spin bike, a 5 minute transition and 15 minutes on a track.  Transition times are fixed between events and do not count toward participants scores.  If participants take longer than 5 minutes for transition there is no penalty, they simply get less time at their next event.

Swim:

The 15 minute swim is completed in The Toronto Pan Am Centre’s swimming pool.  Distance is tracked by lengths.  You must complete the length before the 15 minute limit to get credit for it.

Transition 1:

Transition one is 5 minutes long and will be done in the men’s/women’s locker rooms.  Absolutely no running in the transition, floors are wet and slippery.  There is more than enough time to change from swim to cycling attire.  Participants must be completely dry before getting on a bike.

Bike:

The 15 minute bike will be done on spin bikes.  Distance is measured in kilometers on the bikes.

Transition 2:

Transition 2 is 5 minutes long.  Participants may change from cycling to running gear if they wish.  Transition 2 is in the men’s/women’s locker rooms as well.

Run:

The 15 minute run will be completed on the track at the Toronto Pan Am Centre.  Distance will be measured in quarter laps.  Runner’s distance will be marked at the last marker they passed prior to the stop whistle blowing.

ONLINE REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE AT 12:00PM (NOON) ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19TH.  STAY TUNED FOR INFORMATION ON DAY OF RACE REGISTRATION.
