Mark Zuckerberg to take on a triathlon later this year
Facebook Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced over social media yesterday that he’s training for a triathlon. The 32-year-old set a year-long running challenge for himself which he recently completed — to run 365 miles in 365 days. Now that he’s accomplished that goal, he has decided to tackle a triathlon next.
“I find these yearly challenges always take me in unexpected directions. Now, I’m doing a triathlon,” he said in his Facebook post. “Rather than trying to run even longer distances, I decided to add some biking and swimming into the mix. I’m lucky enough to have a few friends doing this with me too.”
So far, training isn’t going so well for him.
“Triathlon training is slow so far. After getting a road bike, on my first ride I forgot to unclip my feet from the pedals, fell over, and broke my arm. It’s not bad, but I can’t bike or swim for a few months, so I’m back to running!”
Zuckerberg is one of many public figures to announce they’re taking on triathlon as a personal challenge, though he hasn’t yet stated which triathlon he’s planning to compete in or even which distance he’s aiming for.
