LA 2028 organizing committee relocates Olympic triathlon to Venice Beach
Original plans to hold the races in Long Beach have been scrapped and replaced with a much more recognizable spot

The LA28 Olympic Games Organizing Committee has announced that plans for triathlon at the 2028 Summer Games have been edited, with the events being relocated to Venice Beach. All three races (the men’s, women’s, and mixed relay) were slated to run in Long Beach, but the organizing committee ultimately decided Venice Beach would offer a better experience for both athletes and spectators.

Antonio Arimany, president-elect of World Triathlon, spoke about the race relocation, stating that he and the organization are “super excited” with the change of plans. “Venice Beach offers a dynamic and energetic atmosphere that perfectly complements the spirit of triathlon,” he said. “We are confident that this iconic location will provide an unforgettable experience for athletes, fans, and the global audience.”
Venice Beach is a tourist hotspot, reportedly attracting more than 10 million visitors every year (a total that nearly doubles the Long Beach tourist pull of six million).
