New Zealand’s Tony Dodds and Nicky Samuels earned victories at the Kinloch ITU Sprint Triathlon Oceania Cup in Taupo, New Zealand on Sunday.

Dodds won the Sprint Triathlon (750 m swim, 20 km bike, and 5 km run) by getting out ahead of Australia’s Brendan Sexton at T2, making up 6 seconds, then running 4 seconds faster to win in 1:00:16. Sexton finished second on 1:00:28.

In the women’s race, Samuels laid the hammer down on the bike (36:33) going 1:37 faster than any other woman. Her gigantic lead allowed her to coast to the finish line in 1:06:59. Neiske Becks of The Netherlands followed one minute later (1:07:59) in second.
