Australia’s Samuel Appleton and James Hodge led the swim today at Ironman 70.3 Canberra, and from there Appleton shadowed Hodge who rode 2:13:18 to enter T2 first. However, Appleton sat just two seconds behind along with Australia’s Michael Fox. Appleton then broke away from Hodge and Fox. By the 7 km mark he led the race by 55 seconds over Fox, and he stayed out front, finishing with a 1:14:36 run to earn a 3:54:54 victory.

Australia’s Rebekah Keat dominated the Ironman 70.3 Canberra women’s race right from the start. She posted top splits in all categories – 26:53 swim, 2:28:25 bike, and a 1:26:41 run to finish in 4:25:58.
