Just one more year of Ironman St. George

Next year it will become Ironman 70.3 St. George.

Next Saturday May 5, Ironman St. George will take place for the third and final time.

Amidst speculation that the race might go away entirely, given the fact that it struggles to attain sold out status like most of the other Ironman races, it was announced today that the race will be cut in half and be replaced by the new Ironman 70.3 St. George in 2013.

The new race will offer 75 age group qualifying spots for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Las Vegas.

Will the World Triathlon Corporation establish another full Ironman race to replace Ironman St. George? Stay tuned.
