Javier Gomez and Lesley Paterson win the 2012 XTERRA World Championship

Brent McMahon and Magali Tisseyre both finish sixth.

Spain’s Javier Gomez came to Maui with low expectations and just to have fun but he came away with an XTERRA World Championship in his XTERRA debut. Gomez completed the 1.5 km ocean swim in 19:06, mountain biked 30.25 km in 1:27:20, and ran the final 10 km in 37:54 to take the win in 2:26:54.

Scotland’s Lesley Paterson won her second XTERRA World title in a row thanks to leading splits on the bike and run. She covered the bike course in 1:36:02, and ran 40:51 to win in 2:44:12.
