ITU Long distance comes to Phuket, Thailand
Takes place over the weekend of May 4-5, 2013.
The Word Triathlon Corporation pulled out and discontinued its Ironman 70.3 Laguna Phuket race but the International Triathlon Union has made sure that long distance triathlon will remain in the area.
The Absolute Phuket ITU O2 LD World Series Triathlon 2013 is the first ITU long distance triathlon to be held in Thailand and marks the start of the ITU world series global triathlon calendar.
The event will take place over the weekend of May 4th and 5th and will include Sprint (750m/ 20km/ 5km), Olympic Distance (1.5km/ 40km/ 10km), team relay, celebrity relay and ITU Kids. On Sunday May 5th, the main event will be the Double Olympic Distance race (3km/ 80km/ 20km).
