Italy to host an Ironman 70.3

In Pescara on June 12, 2011.

On June 12, 2011, the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Italy will take place in the city of Pescara, conveniently located just four kilometers from Abruzzo International Airport.

Ironman 70.3 Italy begins with a 1.9 km swim that takes place near the downtown beach area in the calm and temperate water of the Adriatic Sea. The 90 km bike goes through the foothills of the Abruzzo Mountains, and the half marathon has athletes going along the beach promenade lined with palm trees and through downtown Pescara and the finish line in the city. Up for grabs are 35 age group qualifying slots for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships.
