Ironman New Zealand changed to a 70.3 race

Severe winds force a change and postponement of the event to Sunday.

Saturday’s Ironman New Zealand will be postponed to Sunday and changed into a 70.3 race due to the expected 120 km/h winds that will arrive between 7 an 11 am on Saturday.

The new 70.3 race is scheduled to start on Sunday at 8 am local time.

Sunday’s race will offer the same prize purse and KPR points for the professionals, and the same amount of Ironman World Championship (October 13, 2012) qualifying slots for age groupers.

Ironman New Zealand athletes will also have the opportunity to race an Ironman event of their choice at a discounted price between now and the end of June.
