Ironman Mont-Tremblant is here

Registration begins Wednesday June 15.

The rumors and anticipation can end because it is now official, Ironman Mont-Tremblant is here and the inaugural race will take place on Sunday August 19, 2012.

It is a five year agreement with the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) that is renewable after 2016. The government of Quebec will support the event with traffic management on race day, along with an investment of 6 million dollars to improve the quality of the roads that the race will utilize.

Athletes will start the 2.4-mile (3.8 km) swim in Tremblant Lake. The two-loop, 112-mile (180 km) bike course runs largely through Mont-Tremblant’s forests and mountains. Athletes will then embark on the two-loop, 26.2-mile (42.2 km) run course into the heart of the pedestrian village of Tremblant Resort.

Online registration for the 2012 Ironman Mont-Tremblant will open at 12 noon (EST) on Wednesday June 15, 2011. At a cost of $675 CAN (tax included) or $1350 CAN (tax included) for an Ironman Foundation slot.
