IRONMAN Lake Placid done and dusted
Recap from Jen Annett's podium finish and top Canadian age group results
This past weekend was 20th anniversary of IRONMAN at Lake Placid. The race included hundreds of Canadian age group triathletes and a few professional women from Canada.
In the women’s professional race, Heather Jackson (USA) was victorious thanks to her swim and bike splits (1:00:58 and 5:04:44). She finished the race with a sub 3:10 marathon, and an overall time of 9:18:49. Canadian triathlete, Jen Annett would finish in second. Annett came out of the water about two minutes back from Jackson and would stay close throughout the bike. On the run, Annett ran a 3:20 marathon, which was more than enough to hold off Sarah Piampiano (USA) for second place.
Following the race, Annett took to Instagram, “What an incredible day at IRONMAN Lake Placid. So honoured to share the podium with these girls (Jacksn and Piampiano) and hopefully secure a Kona spot.”
