Ironman comes to Wales

Pembrokeshire on September 11, 2011. Registration opens this Friday.

The inaugural Ironman Wales will take place in the county of Pembrokeshire on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011.

The start of the race is at South Beach in the seaside village of Tenby. Athletes will swim 3.8K in the waters of Camarthen Bay before taking on a 180K bike course through the scenic countryside of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, passing numerous castles and iconic landmarks. The medieval town walls and picturesque beachfront provide an impressive backdrop for the marathon through Tenby.

The race will offer 50 qualifying slots for the Ironman World Championships.
