Ironman Florida Results
Cunnama and Jacobs win.
South Africa’s James Cunnama and the USA’s Jessica Jacobs took top honours earlier today at Ironman Florida.
Cunnama swam 51:45, biked 4:35:55, and ran 2:43:09, passing Portugal’s Pedro Gomez at mile 16, to take the win in 8:15:59. Gomez settled for second (8:19:26), and Luxembourg’s Dirk Bockel got third (8:21:23).
Jacobs, from Alabama, took a 4:45 lead onto the run (over Hungary’s Erica Csomor) and added a few minutes to that lead once she crossed the finish line in 9:07:49. Jacobs swam 1:04:37, biked 4:52:36, and ran 3:04:52. Csomor finished in second (9:14:40), and American Kim Loeffler came in third (9:21:26).
Toronto’s Linnea Humphrey, finished as the tenth fastest female (9:58:09). She ran out of real estate in her chase, and lost a close 40-44 age group battle with American Susan Langley (9:55:19). Penticton’s Olly Piggin was the fastest Canadian male (9:18:22).
