Well we didn’t see this one coming. In a year where virtually all of its races have been “postponed” or “rescheduled” – the company seldom uses the word “cancelled” with regards to events – Ironman has acquired a trail running event in Salzburg, Austria, called the mozart 100.

The company owns two other trail running races – the Ultra-Trail Australia and the Tarawera Ultra Marathon in New Zealand.

“First held in 2012 with a humble 250 participants, mozart 100 has quickly become a centerpiece of the Ultra-Trail World Tour,” the company said in a release. “Today, more than 1,600 athletes from 70 countries participate across 6 single and 3 team events. Distances range from the 9km mozart city trail (5.5 miles) to the event’s ultimate test, the 108km (67 miles) long mozart 100 race.”

The next race will take place on June  19, 2021.
