Ironman 70.3 Germany Results
Raelert and van Vlerken win.
Germany’s Michael Raelert steadily made his way through the field and topped it off with a race best 1:15:33 half marathon to win in 4:03:47. Fellow German Sebastian Kienle did the same but fell shy of Raelert to finish second (4:05:55). As expected, Sweden’s Björn Andersson controlled the race with a 2:18:35 bike but faded on the run to snatch third (4:09:09).
Dutchwoman Yvonne van Vlerken faced a close battle with USA’s Desiree Ficker but van Vlerken beat Ficker at her own game, outrunning her by 26 seconds (1:23:17) to finish in 4:41:52, just 23 seconds ahead of Ficker in second. Germany’s Kristin Möller had the top run (1:21:22) to capture third (4:43:10).
