Ironman 70.3 and Ironman Mont-Tremblant win awards

2013 CSTA International Sport Event of the Year Award.

Showered with rave reviews after its debut in 2012, it should come as no surprise that Ironman 70.3 Mont-Tremblant, and Ironman Mont-Tremblant won the 2013 Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance International Sport Event of the Year Award.

On its website listing of the winners of the 2013 Prestige Awards it said the following:

CSTA International Sport Event of the Year Award presented by Tourism Winnipeg

Ironman 70.3 Mont-Tremblant & Ironman Mont-Tremblant (Mont-Tremblant, QC)

A first ever worldwide bid success, the World Triathlon Corporation selected Mont-Tremblant to host both Ironman 70.3 & Ironman.

A total of 4500 athletes (2000 for the 70.3 and 2500 for IM) visited Mont-Tremblant to participate in two events. Each athlete was accompanied by an average of four people who hailed from 50 different countries, generating more than 20,000 overnight stays. More than 11,000 day-trippers came to watch the races, bringing the total Ironman tourist traffic to 44,545.

Furthermore, the Ironman Foundation has made an incredible donation of $250,000 to the community of barely 9,800 residents which will be put towards the creation of a municipal aquatic centre and Olympic pool to support the community and future events.

“We are extremely proud of this achievement and very happy to contribute to the promotion of the Ironman brand here in Canada,” Piche said to Ironman.com. “As always, we consider this to be the result of a great team effort and we are looking forward for even better things to come in the near future.”
