Ironkids gaining popularity in the UK

Cross Country Team RunnersIRONKIDS is building momentum in the UK and Ireland. In 2014 over 3,000 teens and youngsters took part in one of the three races on offer, alongside the main IRONMAN event the following day. Online applications for 2015 open this Friday 14 November at 09:00 GMT.

IRONKIDS aims to give kids aged three to 14 the opportunity to lead an active, fun and healthy lifestyle, while also enabling the whole family to feel part of the IRONMAN action. In addition to IRONKIDS UK (18 July), IRONKIDS Exmoor (27 June) and IRONKIDS Wales ( September 12), 2015 will also see the introduction of an IRONKIDS run event at Staffordshire on Saturday  June 13.

Families can now enter in their junior event of choice, with demand for entry expected to outstrip places. The events involve running between 500 m and 2.5 km according to age, with each child receiving a special commemorative IRONKIDS t-shirt in their entry pack and a medal after completing their run to celebrate their achievement.

Kevin Stewart, Managing Director IRONMAN UK & Ireland, said “With our IRONMAN events selling out in record time, we are expecting youngsters to be equally as quick off their marks. IRONKIDS is a fantastic way to kick off the weekend’s racing and a great opportunity for more families to keep fit and healthy together.”
