Injury sidelines Pete Jacobs

He will not race Ironman Melbourne.

Australia’s Pete Jacobs will not get the chance to race fellow Aussie Craig Alexander at the upcoming Ironman Melbourne on March 25th.

Jacobs, who finished second to Alexander at the 2011 Ironman World Championship with a faster run split (2:42 vs 2:44), confirmed that he must pull out of the race due to a lower back and hip injury.

Jacobs will need to complete an Ironman race in order to validate his 2012 Ironman World Championship slot.

Interestingly, Jacobs is looking to return to racing on June 2 at Ironman 70.3 Hawaii, where he would face Craig Alexander and Lance Armstrong.
