Heemeryck, Kahlefeldt win $30K Challenge Family World Bonus

With matching 1,650-point totals, Belgian Pieter Heemeryck and Czech Radka Kahlefeldt earn the Challenge Family World Bonus worth US$30,000.

After a year of dominant performances on the Challenge race circuit, Pieter Heemeryck and Radka Kahlfeldt are the winners of the US$30,000 Challenge Family World Bonus as the top point-scorers for the season.

Belgium’s Heemeryck was dominant on the men’s side, compiling wins in Daytona (2018), Salou, Gran Canaria, Geraardsbergen, Davos and Peguera-Mallorca for a total of 1650 points, 350 clear of his next closest competitor.

Australia’s Steve McKenna took second for the men with 1,300 points, earning him $20K after picking up wins in Gunsan and Vietnam. Spaniard Pablo Gonzalez Dapena’s runner-up finish last weekend in Daytona moved him past German Andreas Dreitz for third.

For the women, Czech Republic’s Kahlefeldt amassed the exact same point total as Heemeryck, earning five victories (Asia-Pacific, Walchsee, Prague, Davos and Peguera-Mallorca) for a 200-point lead over the field.

In a tight race for second, Lucy Charles-Barclay’s runner-up finish in Daytona moved her into a tie with Germany’s Daniela Bleymehl at 1,450 points, as the two split the second and third-place prize money for $17K each.

A total of $150K is awarded to the top five male and female point-scorers of the season, with third getting $14K, fourth $8K and fifth $3K.
