At the Great White North Triathlon, Calgary’s Kyle Marcotte and Edmonton’s Annett Kamenz took first place honours.

Marcotte posted solid splits of 28:07 for the swim, 2:13:48 for the bike and 1:19:47 for the run. His finish time of 4:01:41 was good enough to stay ahead of Montana’s Brendan Halpin (4:01:55) whose race best 1:16:54 half marathon left him just 14 seconds shy of Marcotte. Calgary’s Calvin Zaryski was third (4:09:58). Edmonton’s Annett Kamenz had an easier time of it. She put together the top bike (2:20:52) and run (1:29:04) to finish 8th overall (4:20:14) and 5:50 ahead of the next fastest female, Tanya Salomon of Calgary (4:26:04). Kristina Schultz of Sherwood Park, Alberta finished third (4:30:22).
