Golden ticket to the Super League Triathlon series

Mislawchuk, Sharpe and Ridenour are off to the Super League Triathlon Championships series

Over the weekend, in Poznan, Poland, three Canadians earned their golden ticket to the Super League Triathlon Championships series.

Day one was the triple mix, and day two was the eliminator. The triple mix is three times a 400m swim, 6km bike and a 2.4km run. Each time the order switches; swim, bike, run, then run, bike, swim and finally, bike, swim, run. In between the athletes only have a 10-minute break. The eliminator is the same format, however after race one just the top 15 move on, then only the top 10 move onto the last race.

To qualify for this year’s Super League Championships series triathletes had to accumulate enough points over the weekend to finish in the top five. On the men’s side, Canadians Tyler Mislawchuck and Matthew Sharpe finished second and third, earning their golden ticket. In the women’s field, Canadian Desirae Ridenour came second, also booking her ticket to the series.

The series begins this fall at the end of September and runs to March next year. Destinations include Jersey, Malta, Mallorca, Singapore and Australia.
