Get in on the Canadian Cross Triathlon Championships

It is just a few more days before the Canadian Cross Triathlon Championships on July 7 2013!

This race will allow athletes from across the country to compete for age group qualifying spots for the 2014 ITU Cross Triathlon Championships in Zittau, Germany (How To Qualify Guide in PDF format). The qualifying spots will be awarded 10 deep per age group in the Full Distance Triathlon event.

There are still age group categories which have low enough numbers which makes the opportunity to obtain a world qualifying spot high. Not only that, but you would have bragging rights for an entire year on a national scale! In particular, the female categories have a lot of opportunities.

Have a entourage/support team coming with you? While the course was designed to allow the maximum amount of spectator view that we could, perhaps your supporters want to get into some of the action. Our Trail Run race has been placed to allow those participant the ability to view the entire swim start, then participate in the trail run, and finish with enough time to cheer you in at the finish line. Food for thought!

Canadian Cross Triathlon Championships EVENT:

Race Capacity – The Full Distance Triathlon has a participant cap of 400 racers for 2013!

RACE MAPS PACKAGE – Please note that the following adjustments have been made to better accommodate participant numbers:
– Full Distance swim will be a single 1000m loop course
– The current water temperature in the quarry is 70F.  This currently allows for wetsuit to be worn.  The official wetsuit decision is made 1 hour prior to the start of the swim. In the event that the water temperature reaches 72F or higher, in accordance with ITU rules, wetsuits will not be permitted.
– Full Distance mountain bike will be a double loop course

June 28, 2013 – Bike and Run courses are pre-marked for training!
June 29, 2013 – Canadian Championships Course Skills Clinic – Pro (and 2010, 2011 course champion) Karsten Madsen will be leading a half day skills clinic on the Championships Course.  See ad below.
July 5, 2013 – 8pm EST online registration closes
July 6, 2013 – race packet pick-up opens at the Kelso Quarry race site: 2 – 4:30pm
July 7, 2013 – Race Day!
