Garmin announces integration with Spotify

As of today, triathletes can listen to their favourite offline Spotify playlist without having to take their phone along on their workout.

Garmin International announced a new integration with Spotify at an exclusive media event in New York this afternoon. The service is available on compatible Garmin music watches, starting with the Fenix 5 Plus model, the GPS smartwatch designed for athletes.

Spotify Premium users with the Garmin Fenix 5 Plus can now sync their playlists to their GPS via WiFi, and listen during their next mile repeat session or long road ride via the Spotify app on their watch. The Spotify app is available in the Connect IQ™ store for Garmin customers (Fenix 5 plus) to download begin listening to their favourite tunes. New users can try Premium for free (conditions apply).

Garmin introduced the Fenix 5 Plus earlier this year. Besides music storage, it features built-in colour maps, Garmin PayTM mobile payments, and technology for determining blood oxygen saturation.

The Spotify app is available now in the Connect IQ™ store for Garmin customers with a fēnix 5 Plus series, Garmin’s popular multisport GPS smartwatch that’s built for athletes and adventures of all sizes.
