Wins for Friesen and Baars

Les Friesen posted the top bike (2:26:46), and run (1:29:37) to easily win Manitoba’s Morden Half Iron Triathlon in 4:28:42. Jamie Blunden arrived next for second (4:44:59), and Darren Cote got third (4:47:25). Sandra Baars used a women’s best 1:42:35 half marathon to come from behind to take the win in 5:31:21. Kristen Pauch-Nolin was second (5:37:42), and Fern McIver third (5:39:33).

O’Donnell and Luxford win

Thanks to a 20-minute opening swim leg, Australia’s Annabel Luxford got to the front and stayed there relatively unchallenged for the win (2:08:28). In the men’s race, American Tim O’Donnell outran (32:28) Australia’s Paul Matthews (33:21) to take the victory in 1:51:52. Guelph’s Christine Jeffrey picked up ninth (2:18:04).
