Former Professional Cyclists Pooley and Passuello win Challenge Philippines

Former World Champion Time Triallist and Olympic Silver medallist in cycling, Britain’s Emma Pooley won the Yellow Cab Challenge Philippines yesterday in Subic-Bataan. She blasted away the competition on the hilly course in the sweltering heat to take the title in 4:41:51 in the second running of the race. Italy’s Domenico Passuello, also a former professional cyclist-turned triathlete took the men’s title in 4:04:21. Danish athlete Rasmus Petraeus was second in 4:09:04 and Australian Mitch Robbins was third in 4:13:11.

The American super swimmer Kelly Williamson was first out of the water in the women’s race in a time of 26:57 and took second place almost 10 minutes behind Pooley. British triathlete Parys Edwards was third in (4:53:19).
“It was tough but honest course and beautiful. I came back to try and win and I really had a good day!” Pooley told race organizers.

A Pro Prize Purse of over 25,000 Euros drew the biggest and fastest pro field to the Yellow Cab Challenge Philippines this year. Male and Female winners took home EUR 5,000 each.
