Five more years for Ironman Lake Placid

The occasion marked with an unveiling of "The Rock" at Mirror Lake.

A popular race destination for many Canadians, due to its proximity to the US border, Ironman and the Village of Lake Placid officials announced the five year contract extension for Ironman Lake Placid.

The first race took place in 1999, and kick-started the boom of Ironman races in North America.

“We are so happy to announce another five years of magic in the awe-inspiring Adirondack Mountains,” says Greg Borzilleri, Race Director for Ironman Lake Placid. “It is an honor and a privilege to be the race director for one of the best Ironman events in the continental U.S. The race impacts the community in such a positive way and I thank the volunteers, spectators, residents and athletes who continue to make it so special each and every year.”

Town officials marked the contract extension with a commemorative plaque mounted on a boulder at Mirror Lake.
