Edmonton councillors vote to bid for the 2014 ITU Grand Final

$600 000 allocated towards the bid.

In November, we reported that Edmonton was going to spend $100 000 to study Hawrelak Park Lake and its suitability to host an ITU event, specifically the ITU Grand Final, and now the City of Edmonton has taken the next step in that process.

Edmonton city councillors voted Monday to spend $600 000 to bid for the 2014 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final.

CTV reports that if Edmonton wins the bid an additional $1.4 million would be needed and can run up to a total expense of  $8 million.
