Scott Finch took the title of Ontario Champion right in this backyard. The Kintore native led the first 10 km run in 38:13, rode the 40 km in 1:03:43 (to stay just ahead of Toronto’s Grahame Rivers who rode a race best 58:35), and finished with a 5 km time of 21:13 5 to claim the overall victory in 2:04:24. Windsor’s David Flacks and Etobicoke’s Andrew McLeod put up solid splits in all three segments to finish second and third respectively.

Kitchener’s Shelley O’Bright made a rare duathlon appearance and led front start to finish in the women’s race. She ran 46:34, rode 1:14:39, and ran 24:36 to take the win (2:27:59) over London’s Christine Richardson (2:33:40), and Merlin’s Renee Hartford (2:37:08).
