Desert Half Iron

At the 2010 Desert Half Iron in Osoyoos, B.C., the husband and wife team of Heather and Trevor Wurtele both topped the podium.

Heather swam 2 km in 27:09, built a 9:38 lead off of the 90 km bike (2:34:12), then ran 1:31:19 to take the win in 4:35:27. Vancouver’s Gillian Moody finished second (4:44:19), and North Vancouver’s Shannon Back was third (5:11:46).

Meanwhile, Trevor swam 28:23, biked 2:24:06, and ran the half marathon in 1:21:52 for a total time of 4:17:24, some 10 minutes ahead of Vernon’s Andrew Sellers (4:27:25) and Penticton’s Justin Birks (4:28:34).
