Cunnama and Spirig win Ironman 70.3 Austin

Naeth get another second, Symonds finishes fifth.

South Africa’s James Cunnama used a race best 1:12:56 half marathon to come from behind to take the overall win at Ironman 70.3 Austin today. Canada’s Brent Poulsen was seventh (4:00:02), and Trevor Wurtele got ninth (4:04:54).

Switzerland’s Nicola Spirig dominated the women’s race with top splits in all three segments (swam 24:49, biked 2:15:37, and ran 1:25:41) to finish in 4:09:34, 8:24 ahead of Prince George’s Angela Naeth (4:17:58), her fifth runner-up finish at an Ironman 70.3 this year.
