Craig Alexander going after a fourth Kona title

He hopes to defend at Ironman Melbourne in March.

According to the Australian Associated Press (AAP), 40 year old Craig Alexander will be going after his fourth Ironman World Title this coming October 12, 2013.

“The agenda is always the big races – why else race? If I’m doing Ironman racing, of course I’m thinking Kona,” said Alexander to the AAP. “I think if I prepare well, I can still contend irrespective of what happened last year (where he finished 12th). “I don’t feel like I need to go back for redemption or for any other reason other than I love the race and I want to go back.”

Alexander plans on defending his title at Ironman Melbourne on March 24th. However, the birth of his third child one week before the race might prevent him from doing so.

“I’m not 100 per cent confirmed that I’m racing. It will depend on a healthy birth and no complications and the baby on time,” said Alexander. “But I’m preparing as if I’m racing.”
