Collins and Wassner win the New York City Triathlon
Blouin finishes in fifth.
Part of the 5150 Series, a pair of Americans grabbed the 2011 New York City Triathlon titles.
Ben Collins got away from the rest of the field during the 40 km bike and ran unbothered to take the win in 1:48:11 over Aussie/American Greg Bennett (1:49:05). Meanwhile, Rebeccah Wassner used a final 36:28 top 10 km run split to overtake Jenna Parker (USA) for the win in 2:03:19. Parker finished in 2:04:01. Quebec’s Evelyne Blouin placed fifth (2:06:52).
Sadly, Michael Kudryk, 64, of Freehold, New Jersey died of a heart attack during the swim. More on that story here.
