Coast to Coast Multisport Championship

Miazga and Van Dorp are the top Canadians.

At 29th annual Coast to Coast race in New Zealand, Kiwis Richard Ussher and Sophie Hart took the overall wins in the World Multisport Championship One Day race.

Ussher grabbed his fourth title with the win, and Hart took down last year’s champion (Elina Ussher) improving upon her third place finish last year. Canada’s Emily Miazga finished third (up one spot from last year) and Jakob Van Dorp finished ninth (12th last year).

Coast to Coast race traverses the South Island of New Zealand from Kumara Beach on the Tasman Sea to Sumner Beach on the Pacific Ocean. The one-day event for individuals only, has competitors cycle 140 kms (three stages of 55km, 15 km and 70 km), run 36 km (including a 33 km mountain stage that crosses the Southern Alps) and kayak 67 kms of the grade two Waimakariri River through the Grand Canyon of New Zealand, the Waimakariri Gorge.
