Challenge Penticton adds Olympic distance race, announces official world championships training camp with Jeff Symonds

The classic Canadian race teams up with its 3-time winner Jeff Symonds for an official world championship training camp ahead of ITU Multisport World Championships.

Challenge Penticton is excited to announce the addition of an Olympic distance race on Sunday, July 23rd, 2017. The 1.5km swim; 45km bike and 10.5km run will be held in tandem with the Challenge Penticton half distance triathlon race.

B78 and Get Ugly Racing will host the only official ITU Multisport World Championships Training Camp from July 20- July 22nd. Athletes participating in the camp will wrap up the week by racing on July 23rd, 2017.

“The addition of an Olympic race to the Challenge Penticton line up ensures that athletes with different goals can race in Penticton,” said Executive Director Michael Brown. “The Olympic course allows athletes an excellent race experience on a storied course. Athletes looking for a leg up at World Championships later this summer will have the chance to experience the course and be able to receive coaching from the incredible combination of Jasper Blake and Jeff Symonds.”

B78 and Get Ugly Racing will present a three-day camp that will culminate in the Challenge Penticton Olympic race on Sunday, July 23rd.

Jasper Blake, Ironman Canada Champion and professional coach teams up with Jeffrey Symonds, Ironman Asia Pacific Champion and 3x winner of Challenge Penticton for the three-day camp that will see athletes through a series of swim, bike and run workouts and includes nutrition, lunch, fully-supported rides, world-class professional coaching and insider tips for ITU Multisport World Championships later in the summer.

Penticton 2017 looks to building on the region’s rich history of long-distance triathlon. The 10-day event will see 5,000 athletes from across the globe compete in six niche multisport events; long-distance Triathlon, Cross Triathlon, Sprint Duathlon, Standard Duathlon, Aquabike and Aquathlon. In addition to thousands of the world’s best triathletes, the event will also attract thousands of spectators, national officials, triathlon media and members of the global triathlon family.
