Cervélo S5 wins 2016 Design and Innovation Award
Triathletes who ride on Cervélo bikes will be excited to learn that the brand has once again proven itself as one of the best in the industry. Cervélo’s S5 DA Di2 aero road bike has earned a 2016 Design and Innovation Award. A selection of 40 experts from around the world in the industry named the S5 the recipient after weeks of testing, analyzing and judging the most innovative bike and products for the 2016 season. Bikes were assessed on their performance, pressure mapping and their level of compliance, comfort and adjustability.
The new S5 Dura-Ace/Dura-Ace Di2 saves 21.3 watts compared to the previous model. The bike’s design borrows elements from the P-series, such as the extended seat tube cutout. Here’s what the experts had to say about the new S5: “The racer-focused Cervélo S5 is a masterclass in design, engineered to slip through the air as fast as possible. The seatstays smooth air around the rear brake, while the signature Dropped Downtube follows the front wheel to minimize drag. Cervélo’s own unique handlebars further reduce air resistance, and sticking with caliper brakes reduces side wind drag. The 60 mm-deep HED Jet Plus SCT wheels slice through the air and provide a dynamic and ultra-fast ride. In short, the S5 is an awesome aero road bike with innovative design details to take you faster that you’ve ever been.”
Triathletes looking for a top aero road bike for either draft-legal races or even just training should look to the new S5 as one of the best on the market.
