Caroline Steffen and Courtney Atkinson take Ironman 70.3 Philippines

Switzerland’s Caroline Steffen dominated the women’s race at Ironman 70.3 Philippines today with top splits in all categories. She swam 26:31, biked 2:18:15, and ran 1:27:29 to post the winning time of 4:16:12.

Australia’s Courtney Atkinson led from start to finish thanks to a race leading swim (23:50) and bike (2:12:38). He finished off with a 1:18:40 run to stay ahead of reigning Ironman World Champion Pete Jacobs to finish in 3:58:07 to Jacobs’ 3:59:09. Victoria’s Brent McMahon was second off of the bike (3:30 down) but had an uncharacteristically poor run of 1:21:10 to finish fifth.
