Organizers of the Canaqua Sports Openwater Swim Series and the Mudskipper SwimRun Challenge have decided to “fully cancel the 2020 season.”
Here’s the announcement distributed earlier today:
As we all know, over the past nine weeks the world has changed. With the spread of Covid-19, many people have either lost their jobs or are working from home, many events of all types being cancelled or postponed, and worst of all, there has been a tragic loss of life around the world.
As a result of Covid-19, social distancing is now the order of the day, and at least in Ontario, groups are restricted to 5 people only, so long as they practice social distancing. As much as there is talk about this opening up a bit, the new number being tossed around is 10 people per group.
With all this going on, and out of respect for the frontline workers who are dedicating their time to helping those who have caught the virus, not to mention those affected by it, we at Canaqua Sports have made the decision to fully cancel the 2020 season for the Canaqua Sports Open Water Swim Series and the Mudskipper SwimRun Challenge. The decision has not been an easy one to make as we have been hoping to at least run a race or two at the end of the season, however, after discussions with our partners we have determined that full cancellation is the only way to go.
Looking forward, we are planning a full season ahead in 2021, with our usual events along with some new locations that we are already working on. Watch for information to come later and in the fall.
Please note that our other division, Canaqua Sports Sales and CanPro Marketing are still fully operational and open for business. Feel free to contact us for all of your sports or promotional needs.
At Canaqua Sports our commitment is to run well organized and safe events. We look forward to a bright future once we get through the current situation and life gets back to normal.
In the meantime, be well and Stay Healthy
